March 10, 2013 — Stop & Shop and 5 New England UFCW Unions Reach New Agreements
We are very pleased to announce that Stop & Shop has reached new bargaining agreements with each of the unions that represent
our associates in New England. The agreements were ratified by union members in a series of meetings held earlier today.
Our goal throughout this process has been to secure fair and reasonable contracts that benefit our associates, their families
and our customers, while also positioning Stop & Shop to compete effectively in what is increasingly a competitive environment.
We are very pleased that these contracts achieve this goal and recognize the outstanding contribution and hard work of our
40,000 store associates.
We thank all of our associates for their continued focus during the negotiations and also thank our customers for their support.
We look forward to continuing to serve our communities across New England.

February 15, 2013 — Healthcare Coverage and Contract Negotiations
Recently, union representatives have publicly expressed concern about healthcare coverage under the contract currently
being negotiated. We respect the negotiating process and as matter of policy do not discuss the details of our bargaining
sessions with the unions that represent Stop & Shop associates. We are committed to reaching a reasonable contract
that benefits everyone.
February 7, 2013 — Ads for Temporary Replacement Workers
In late January, Stop & Shop placed advertisements for temporary replacement workers in local publications. As the
negotiations continue, in the event a union initiates a work stoppage, Stop & Shop wants to ensure that we will be
able to maintain our store operations and serve our customers. Toward that end we are recruiting possible temporary
replacement workers as part of our standard contingency planning.
This action is not a reflection on the state of negotiations. It is simply a part of a standard contingency plan to minimize any potential impact to our customers in the event that a union decides to take action.
