Stop & Shop Issues a Voluntary Recall of Cottontails Icy Bite Teether Keys

July 20, 2009 – Quincy, MA … Following notification from the manufacturer, The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has announced a voluntary recall of Cottontails Icy Bite Teether Keys. The items were removed from store shelves because the gel may be contaminated with Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus circulans.

The following product is affected by this recall:

Cottontails Icy Bite Teether Keys, UPC 0-41520-86670, all codes

Customers who have these products should discard them and bring their purchase receipt to any Stop & Shop for a full refund. To date, Stop & Shop has received no reports of illnesses associated with ingestion of these products.

These bacteria generally do not cause illness. However, the bacteria can affect children with weakened immune systems, causing stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.
