STOP & SHOP PRESENTS CASH TO AREA SCHOOLS THROUGH A+ BONUSBUCKS
Quincy, MA (July 16, 2007) - Stop & Shop has presented more than $150,000 in grants
to more than 400 schools through the A+ BonusBucks program, which enabled customers to
donate directly to the school of their choice at the checkout counter.
Running from last fall until Spring 2007, the A+ BonusBucks program gave Stop & Shop
customers the opportunity to assist local schools when they made purchases with their
Stop & Shop Card. Under the program, customer-designated schools would receive points
or "BonusBucks" for every dollar spent using the Stop & Shop Card.
"We are proud to support educational initiatives and know that this year's participating
schools will be able to use these monies to enhance their students learning experience,"
said José Alvarez, President and CEO of the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company. "We
recognize that these youths are our future leaders, and we're proud to make this
investment in the communities where we operate."
Grants from A+ BonusBucks can be used to fulfill a wide range of school needs, from new
technology to library aids to musical instruments, and can also fund field trips and
school sports programs.
