Oh, baby! Stop & Shop reduces prices on diapers, other infant products
(January 25, 2007, Quincy, MA.) On Friday, January 26, The Stop & Shop Supermarket
Company will unveil new, lower prices in its baby aisle, the latest phase of a program
that promises to stretch their customers' shopping dollar even further. In addition to
finding lower prices on diapers, customers will find reduced prices on baby food, wipes,
creams, and other baby care products.
This marks the latest phase of Stop & Shop's Value Improvement Program (VIP).
Combining the chain's "one-stop-shopping" philosophy with a renewed emphasis on lower
prices, VIP will continue across the store aisles in the months to come and reduce the
cost of a typical family's weekly shopping trip.
"For families with young children, diapers, baby food and other baby care products can
make up a significant part of their shopping budget," Said José Alvarez, President and
CEO of The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company. "With VIP, we are responding to the core
needs of young families: better prices, great selection, and genuine value across the
board."
Customers already have noticed the lower prices and improved products in Stop &
Shop's Produce and Paper departments, where VIP officially launched in late 2006. Alvarez
said customer response has been extremely positive.
"More and more, our customers are realizing that one-stop-shopping can go hand in hand
with great quality and value," he said. "They have been thrilled at what they've seen so
far in our Produce and Paper departments, and we want them to know that more is on its
way."
Stop & Shop is spreading the word on its value-priced baby products through
advertisements in radio, the Internet, and outdoor billboards, as well as the chain's
weekly circulars and in-store signs.
