Mount Vernon, NY - A new Stop & Shop supermarket will offer area consumers the latest in one-stop shopping when it opens its doors for the first time in Mount Vernon on Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 7:00 a.m.

Located at 240 East Sandford Boulevard, the store encompasses more than 50,000 square feet of retail sales area and more than 30,000 square feet of storage on the first floor. A portion of the warehouse space on the lower level of the building will house Peapod by Stop & Shop, which provides home delivery of groceries.

The store design offers customers a number of new departments under one roof, including:

• A "Toy Zone"
   
• "Everyday Celebrations," which offers a variety of party goods
   
• "For Your Kitchen" featuring name-brand cookware, kitchen gadgets and small appliances
   
• A "Bestsellers!" department, containing the latest books and magazines, as well as music and video/video game selections
   
• A "Dollar Store" with a variety of products at bargain prices
   
• A stationery aisle with popular supplies for home, office or school
