USDA has reported a possible case of
Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE)

Quincy, Massachusetts - The USDA has reported a possible case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE also known as mad cow disease) in a single dairy cow in Washington
State. Ahold operating companies, which includes Stop & Shop, has had assurances from ALL of our beef suppliers that we do NOT receive any product from the processing plant involved in processing the cow with the alleged BSE. We purchase all of our beef products only from USDA federally inspected facilities and have had assurances from our suppliers that none of the beef from the affected cow was received at any of our supplier plants.

We are closely monitoring this situation and will follow the lead from USDA. For additional information call the USDA Hotline at 1-800-535-4555 or visit www.bseinfo.org.
